Charles has gained assignments for the New York Times, The Daily Telegraph (a regular contributor), The Times and many Magazines including several covers. He was The Black Eyed Peas official European tour photographer in 2005. In 1999 he made a documentary that became part of a series for National Geographic and in 1993 Charles came in the top six of The Sunday Times Ian Parry Award for Photojournalism.
Major assignments include a global advertising assignment for GSM Association "The Digital Divide" and creation of their image library, documentary film stills for EPL Pictures on Abbey Road Recording Studios which took him to Hollywood resulting in many publications including a feature in the Times. He spent five months following a Raleigh International Expedition and covering tourism in Namibia again resulting in a feature for the Times and a private viewing at the Namibian High Commission. A three month assignment took him through South America on a reed boat with the legendary explorer Colonel John Blashford-Snell on The Kota Mama Expedition. Charles both photographed and filmed the semi military voyage which again resulted in several publications including The Telegraph and Geographical Magazine.
Although a distraction from photography, following his television success Charles helped Creative Touch Films to set up a new television label “RawMaterial” from its inception in 2002 and spent several months as their Associate Producer making the television series Adventure Challenge and working with sponsors Avid, Dell and Maxtor which he introduced to the company.
